Wendy's Story

Wendy has acquired multiple investment properties through The Club over the years and is looking forward to financial independence and early retirement. Here’s her story...

"In 2001 at the age of 34, I finally plucked up the courage to dip my toe into the investment property market. Encouraged by an ‘expert’ friend, I purchased a shabby old property, cheap as chips, in an up-and-coming suburb in Perth. The property was in need of some major refurbishment but promised to be a ‘little ripper’, according to the real estate agent. Hindsight is a fabulous thing—had I known then what I know now about property investing, I wouldn’t have touched this property with a barge pole—it turned out to be nothing but trouble; huge maintenance costs, filthy tenants, unreliable property managers, and very little tax benefit. Fortunately, I’m not one for giving up on my goals, so when I heard about The Investors Club in 2002, I went along to an introductory workshop and haven’t looked back."
