Having experienced rapid capital growth on our own home during construction and upon settlement, we were very surprised at the valuation. Discussing this with a work colleague and The Investors Club member (Bob Scott) he explained to me about his experiences and how if my soon to be wife and I wanted to, we too could become financially independent using the Club’s support. This all seemed too easy. What’s the catch we asked?
After months of discussions with Bob we attended a Club meeting and met our Support Member and became Club members around October 2003. Taking in all at this meeting wasn’t putting us off only making us more determined to progress and lodge a Finance Enquiry Form.
This done, Club Loans gave us the shock of our lives when he informed us of our borrowing capacity, a lot more than we had expected.
With some of the fundamentals completed we discussed our future in investing and soon to become married, we decided to get our wedding expenses out of the way first, as many would know weddings aren’t cheap.
Now married and not being able to attend Club meetings as our work commitments didn’t allow us to do this, we contacted our Support Member Julie McRitchie.
Contacting Julie and explaining our work commitments, we were immediately put at ease as Julie was only too willing to home visit us and conduct our own catch up session. From this we lodged another Finance Enquiry Form and with the aid of yet more capital growth on our own home, gave us even more borrowing power.
Our borrowing capacity sorted, next we needed a property that we liked and through the Club’s property profiles Julie had emailed us, we discovered “Aura Apartments- Stage 2” in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.
Using the Club’s guidelines on investing this property suited our requirements. Together with Julie on yet another home visit we ran the figures through the wealth creation simulator to establish if this property was suitable to our investing needs.
This property suited our requirements and more importantly we were comfortable lodging an Expression of Interest as Julie had taken the time to guide us through one of the most stressing times of our life, purchasing property.
Julie confirmed with us the next day our Expression of Interest had been accepted and we received confirmation of this mid December 2005.
After completing an inspection of the proposed site for this complex and display of stage 1 we went to contract, the whole time knowing we had such support behind us in Julie and The Investors Club.
We are due to settle on our first investment property within the week, tenants have been accepted and will be taking occupancy at settlement, leaving no gaps in rent. This was a huge ‘peace of mind’ for us to have 12 month lease upon settlement.
Being new to investing of any kind, we had and still have many questions for Julie. It is very reassuring to know that Julie is only a phone call or email away. Very capable, enthusiastic and willing to assist us with our every enquiry and if we ask about something for which Julie is not sure of, we are told exactly that, she is not sure but will follow it up.
Sure enough the phone will ring and our request has been followed up.
We would like to publicly thank Julie for her support, understanding and loyalty to her position as support member. This kind of support for us is very much appreciated and as a young couple (aged 34 and 32) we hope to have a long association with Julie and The Investors Club.
